The housing market in Altea is represented by flats and apartments for every taste and budget, including even some excellent bank properties. When looking for your perfect apartment, look for properties with southern orientation and good views.
Altea Hills, a gated community on the mountain, houses some of the most expensive property on the Costa Blanca. Here is where you can find a nice sunny apartment with a terrace and panoramic views of the sea and mountains in a modern residential complex with all of the amenities (parking, pool and tennis courts). If you want to be closer to the sea, choose apartments in Mascarat and Campomanes. Buying a property in Altea Hills or Mascarat area is an excellent investment because it is here where the British, Belgians, French and Dutch prefer to come to spend the winter.
Besides tourists, there are many Spanish locals in Altea: workers, teachers and students of the faculty of arts of the Miguel Hernandez University. About one-third of the town’s population are foreigners, coming from Great Britain, Latin America, Romania and Germany. Finding a decent long-term rental at a reasonable price in Altea is almost impossible, as there is high demand. New apartments can be purchased starting from 1,560 euro/m², while secondhand homes start at 1,000 euro/m².
Adapting to life in Spain will not be too difficult, because in Altea there are language courses offered in the Centro Social, English private tutors, English radio and newspapers and British international schools in the nearby towns.
For families with children, Altea is the perfect destination. A wide range of activities, sports clubs, a tennis club, bicycle paths, a school of music, a municipal swimming pool, and most importantly, a high level of security that allows children to go to school and back home on their own.
